Interior design is an occupation that has become extremely popular and marketable in America these days. Interior Design is one of the fastest growing professions. Interior Design is an evolving discipline that celebrates multiplicity in design approaches, responding to social practices and evoking spatial experiences thatimprove the way we live, work and play. Interior Design is truly a boon as it makes a house into a beautiful place where you would love to live.

Not to be confused with interior decoration, interior design draws on aspects of environmental psychology, architecture, product design and furniture design in addition to traditional decoration.  he materials used in interior design are the following-wood (commonly used for furniture, door frames), cloth (for various kinds of uses such as linen, curtains, bed sheets, etc), rubber/leather, plastic (used for electrical accessories and entire furniture pieces such as chairs and tables) and Steel/Iron (used in interior design where the main purpose is to give support and carry weight to the floor).

There is a distinct difference between interior decorating and interior design.  Interior decorating is generally focused on the selection and presentation of interior items within a space, such as furniture, accessories, finishes and room layout.

The disciplinary perspectives shares a common pedagogy within the College of Architecture divisions, engaging high tech knowledge with high touch skills in preparing new graduates to solve problems related to global challenges facing the profession of interior design in practice.  Many experts trace its beginnings to the early 20th century and the rise of interior decoration as a career separate from architecture.  Employers increasingly prefer interior designers who are familiar with computer-aided design software and the basics of architecture and engineering to ensure that their designs meet building safety codes.  Interior design can also influence the choice of real estate that will address the organization’s needs through the architecture and design elements.
